Intra Vitreal Injections

About Intra Vitreal Injections

Intra Vitreal Injections are specialized treatments in which medication is injected directly into the vitreous cavity of the eye to treat retinal diseases. These injections are commonly used for conditions such as diabetic macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, and other inflammatory retinal disorders.

They help reduce swelling, control abnormal blood vessel growth, and preserve or improve vision.

Procedure

The eye is first examined thoroughly, and antiseptic preparation is done to ensure sterility. Local anesthetic drops are administered to numb the eye and minimize discomfort.

Using a fine needle, the medication is carefully injected into the vitreous cavity under sterile conditions. The procedure is quick, typically completed within a few minutes. After the injection, patients are monitored briefly and advised on post-treatment care.

Regular follow-up visits are scheduled based on the treatment plan.
